U15 Romande Cup 2021 Report

18. September, 2021 – Bout-du-Monde, Genève
Geneva Region Youth Cricket Club (GRYCC) hosted the U11s Romande Cup at Bout-du-Monde, which saw a Swiss Romande side (consisting of players from GRYCC, Gingins and Cossonay) compete against teams from Basel (BDJCC) and eventual winners Zurich (ZCCC).

In the first match (Swiss Romande vs. BDJCC), helped by fine performances from Aayansh 22*, Ed H 17* & 1-6, and Nihanth 2-5, BDJCC beat Swiss Romande by 70 runs. Casper C (2-17) was the stand-out performer from the Swiss Romande Team.
The second match of the competition saw tournament favourites ZCCC beat BDJCC by 20 runs in a closely fought match. Batting first, ZCCC put on 129/2 (Dhruv 21*, Ben 12*, Ed Holmes 2-7) and then restricted BDJCC to 109/7 (Kabir 19*, Aayansh 13, Dhruv 2-20).
In the last game of the event, a much-improved Swiss Romande side lost to ZCCC by 5-wickets. Eddie (21*), and Nicholas (10) helped the Swiss Romande team post a competitive 99/6 in their allotted 20 overs. The batting efforts of the home team were also bolstered by a gusty display from Samiha, the only girl player in the U11s tournament.
In reply, ZCCC despite losing two early wickets, reached their target in 15.1 overs. The ZCCC’s reply was anchored by Dhruv 27* while Casper 2-12 and Finn 1-13 were the best bowlers for the Swiss Romande team.
ZCCC, by wining both of their matches, were declared winners of the tournament.
